Visit us at IFSEC, Hall 3 stand E20
After a long period of abstaining from IFSEC this year will see us back in Hall 3 on stand E20 exhibiting our Virtual Carer and Lone Worker Solution ArchAngel. Of course we will use the opportunity to display all of the services available at both Southern and Northern Monitoring Services.
It was good to see ACPO taking a responsible attitude and not profiteering by increasing URN fees this month, thereby dissuading customers from fitting police calling signalling systems during a period of increase crime and economic recession. Obviously there is still the cost of a personal attack URN now for all new systems, which will probably impact on the surveyor having to identify a real need for such a device due to the increased costs.
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) appears to be re-morphing itself into a model not dissimilar to the General Medical Council any Company currently employing licensed staff for licensable activities will need to be licensed itself, so more costs to be built into the supply chain. For Companies who are already regulated by UKAS accredited inspection bodies as well as ACPO Policy this is serious overkill and does absolutely nothing to enhance the integrity of the current regime, but it does keep Civil Servants employed.
Keep an eye out for the SIA's definition of Security Consultants, it wouldn't surprise me if that will encompass Security Surveyors and therefore the Company; after all the cynical amongst us know its all about revenue generation from a successfully self certificated industry that has managed without the need for the SIA for 50 years!
You can rest assured that I will be keeping a close eye on the pen pushers from Whitehall and with the Fire & Security Association we will be staunching advocating that they should be leaving our industry alone.
Don't forget to drop by at IFSEC, Hall 3 stand E20.
Bye for now,
