September 2009
Hello Again,
Due to "strategic realignments", BT has announced that the programmed rollout of BT21CN will now be done on an adhoc basis over the next five years at least, causing more uncertainty about the impact of what exchanges are being upgraded and when.
With the costs of non geographic numbers from different service providers and the uncertainty around BT21CN, it brings into question the ongoing reliability and cost effectiveness of PSTN signalling devices. We have therefore committed with CSL DualCom to a program of upgrades for digital communicators to the DigiPlus platform, product details of which are available at www.csldual.com/products/DigiPlus.
In summary the benefits of DigiPlus over a normal PSTN communicator are:
- Guaranteed to make all digital communicators 21CN proof
- Simple to fit in less than 5 minutes and supplied ready programmed
- No need to change/reprogram/adjust existing digital communicator
- More robust administration structure for older digital communicators
- Can use any telephone line from any provider
- Will not affect or be affected by other telephone equipment
- 0870/71/44/45 call charging proof with free 0800 alarm and polling calls
- End user costs reduced as telephone call costs disappear
- Flexibility to volume transfer connections remotely
- Can be remotely reconfigured
So all the old communicators that you can’t get chips for anymore don’t ever need to be reprogrammed again – EVER! When fitted to old BS4737 installations, the system will enjoy the benefits of the polling requirements for EN installed systems.
No more complaints from customers because their telephone service provider is surcharging their phone bill for 0870/71/44/45 non geographic number ranges.
The DigiPlus units are supplied by SMS & NMS free of charge to all our customers and all the above benefits attract a small increase in annual charge, details of which are available from Sales or Customer Services at SMS or NMS. So it’s a win for the customer who will get more for less and it’s win for the installer who can make a bit more margin.
Bye for now,
Steve
