Connections

November 2011

Hello again,

Whilst times are hard as they say and acquisition seems to be the way to grow quickly and meet shareholders expectations, the recent G4S acquisition of ISS met with mix reviews as their shares initially took a dive.

However, our trading year to September 2011 was another good year with healthy net growth in connections and turnover. This trading year we intend to expand organically rather than by acquisition into new services without compromising the existing operational excellence and customer relationships. This will be underpinned by our commitment to the continual development of our employees and to provide our customers with an unrivalled level of products and service.

Currently our monitoring service, customer relationships and delivery platforms for the Security Industry are second to none. We enjoy net organic growth from our installer channel; additionally we attract volume transfers from competitors bringing new installers into the business and additional organic growth on board. However there is limited organic and transfer growth in the Security Industry the margins from which are ever eroding and the need to minimise cost and to automate will assist in retaining margins.

Our profits will be reinvested in exploring related services both within and outside the current installer channel, enabling a growth in turnover and larger margins. This will be achieved by enhancing the service offerings to the installer channel, but also by taking our brand to the commercial end user and vying for national contracts whilst not imposing on any existing relationships with our installer channel.

International companies acquisition activities are potentially threats as they can afford the high cost of entry to our marketplace and having entered, they have the buying power to drive down margins. So new technology must be embraced as a service offering, such technology can provide direct end user interface to the detection system by hosting service on Cloud based platforms.

An example of investment by SMS & NMS in a new service platform is the SureView IMMIX software providing additional connectivity for remote CCTV systems and lone worker applications, delivering alarm activations into the operational environment on a common platform.

So as another trading year starts we look forward to growing the products, services and routes to market, so as to increase our market share and remain a Quality business providing good value for money – after all you get two monitoring centres for the price of one!

Bye for now,

Steve
