May 2009

Hello Again,

Difficult choice this year, is it IFSEC with the new hall layout with even more CCTV suppliers in attendance, or is it the ECA/FSA conference in Malta?

Birmingham or Malta?  It's a 'no brainer' really!  Fortunately both, as the conference in Malta runs over the preceding weekend and finishes on the Wednesday, which leaves Thursday at IFSEC on the Fire & Security Association (FSA) stand.  So if you would like to know why the ranks of the FSA have grown from 90 members to 300 in the last 2 years, drop by the stand, you never know as a new member maybe you could also join us at the overseas conference next year.

As the motor manufacturers have cancelled the motor show, I guess it will be interesting to see how many suppliers turn up at IFSEC this year, many may forgo their deposits in an effort to make further savings during this difficult period for manufacturers.  However, if you are an installer of remote signalling, then do make sure you visit DualCom, WebWayOne, Emizon, Risco and Redcare’s stands.

Many have new products to launch and some have new tariffs and all have incentives in place for conversions to their network.  So it’s worth spending a bit of time looking at your options on how to overcome any BT21CN problems, or how to make a larger margin on your existing estate of signalling.

We will provide impartial advice on the different options and incentives, so you can always give our sales or customer services a call and we will take you through the choices if you can’t make it to IFSEC.

As an aside, many of the ARC’s contracts with RedCare are coming up for review during the next 9 months and depending on the outcome and ongoing relationship between the parties concerned, you could see yet further price increases in RedCare tariffs depending on whether the respective contract reviews are favourable.

With competitive rates and incentives from other remote signalling network providers, BT RedCare would probably be advised not to adopt a high handed attitude as previously, thereby potentially destabilising the marketplace by negotiating unacceptable new terms with the ARC’s.

But I guess time will tell!

Bye for now,

Steve
