March 2010

Hello Again,

Three years on and March 2010 will culminate with the new service agreements for the provision of RedCare products and services through the ARC channel in the UK.

Three years on, we acknowledge the work that BT RedCare are undertaking to reinstate the confidence in the channel through the ARC’s and also the installers. Let’s just hope there are no further price increases this April!

The signalling marketplace has moved on quite considerably in the last three years as some suppliers have gained a larger market share and we have also seen some serious deployment of IP based signalling. To further explain the benefits of IP signalling and WebWay products in particular, click on the video window above or here.

We are starting to notice an increase in issues associated with BT21CN and round trip delays for some types of digital communicators. The UK is currently going through an upgrade for Next Generation Networks or NGNs. In the last six months many UK Alarm Installers have found their Digital Communicators to be failing for no apparent reason. The issues went away when devices were updated to more ‘tolerant’ Digital Communicators that were able to cope with the protracted round-trip delays caused by NGNs or Next Generation Networks. BT has the greatest challenge for their NGN – it’s called 21CN and involves 30 million lines across 5,000 exchanges. These upgrades will be done over the next 4 to 5 years on an impromptu basis with no apparent schedule or notice.

The answer is DigiPlus® which is a small hardware device that can be fitted during the next scheduled preventative maintenance visit. This is the most cost effective method of overcoming the NGN problem before it becomes a big problem. The annual monitoring charge will increase slightly, however you will be offsetting this additional cost by saving on the calls your digital communicator makes to the monitoring station. Currently we are charged for a National Call to a 0870 number every time the system is set, unset or activated. With DigiPlus® we will guarantee you, that once fitted, your customer will never pay another call cost associated with your intruder system as our units dial a 0800 free phone number. The DigiPlus® will also make a free test call to your communicator daily to ensure it is working correctly.

Bye for now,

Steve
