Connections

March 2008

Hello Again,

RedCare have introduced price increases as of April 1st and they have not followed the same process they adopted in 2004 when the last set of increases impacted the industry along with the removal of domestic tariffs for new connections.

This time the ARC’s will pick up the additional cost with immediate effect and not upon the anniversary of the connection. This means that the ARC’s need to invoice at the new rates as of April 1st with immediate effect and that, as we all know, has an impact on installers and their contract for maintenance and monitoring with their customer, which without exception is paid annually in advance.

RedCare is entitled to increase charges or remove tariffs by giving the ARC’s two weeks notice, they gave 3 months on this occasion so the ARC’s could reflect the increases having given their customers 3 months notice also.

So don’t forget that any outstanding RedCare quotes, new quotes or upgrade campaigns may need to be reconsidered as a result of this price increase. On a positive note at least the connection charge to the more expensive service charge is cheaper on most products!

Of course there are other options in the marketplace as our customers found out in the recent “What’s in a Signal?” seminar held at the Royal Marines Museum in Portsmouth. The seminar provided for all the major network suppliers to ply their wares and explain the difference in how their network signalling path is better than their competitors.

Each supplier also had an exhibition stand to go through their products and tariffs and provider the installer with a unique opportunity to make a considered choice on their preferred supplier for new connections and upgrade campaigns.

If you were unable to make the seminar and would like to know more about options so as to make an informed choice we will be putting the seminar online on in due course. Alternatively, you may like to contact Rod Wilson or Paul Cooper on 0870 242 2220 for further details.

In the meanwhile if you require any assistance on fire training requirements, trade association membership, price checks, CCTV monitoring, lone worker and GPS tracking alarms, don’t hesitate to give me a call, consultancy is free!

Bye for now,

Steve
