Hello Again,
In the security industry today we are aware that there is nothing more certain than change itself. Whilst there is a natural resistance to change, there remains the need to accept it and manage it well in order to keep pace.
The constant introduction of new technology and new regulations means this process becomes inevitable if you are to guarantee the continued quality of service delivery in a demanding and competitive market. There should therefore be an over-riding imperative that we all regularly review the service that we provide to our customers, including those services that we contract out; in order to ensure the total service package never fails to meet the customers’ requirements.
So the big question is, how do you achieve this against a backdrop of ever changing Standards, legislation and inspection criteria?
One way is to get involved with the Standards and Legislation by joining the Fire & Security Association whose Mission Statement is “Supporting the Profession to safeguard the client”.
The FSAis dedicated to maintaining and improving industry standards by discussion and representation, the concept is one of nurturing companies through an evolutionary development of their business and the continued development of companies through coaching and mentoring. This will be facilitated through a structured approach to systems installations based around British and European Standards along with business development courses and opportunities by promoting the improvement, development and implementation of Industry Standards and best practice
By doing so, the FSA will represent the interests of the ECA members and the FSA by working with UKAS accredited bodies, learned societies, other trade associations and Government to help to provide the best practice in Industry and Education by supporting the qualification and fair reward for the industry’s practitioners.
In an effort to promote and protect the electro-technical Fire & Security Systems profession the FSA will also actively encourage new technologies and evaluate and exchange views on new products and services so to enable the members an equitable commercial return on investment.
In turn, through membership of the ECA, specialist FSA firms will enjoy additional commercial benefits over and above the normal trade association functions of lobbying, guidance, developing Standards, marketing/PR and research.
