Connections
June 2009
Hello Again,
I was asked once if this column was written by a "ghost" writer and if not, do I ever have difficulty thinking of a subject matter after 15 plus years of the connections column?
Well, firstly I am afraid that all that is printed here can only be attributed directly to me and secondly, there have always been things to talk about in our industry, even if on occasion the column has been used to take a bit of a swipe at the establishment.
It is fair to say that at on many occasions the content has focused on particular issues and those it affected were concentrating more on what was being said, rather than getting on resolving the issues and running their own business. That’s the beauty of an advertorial column in a trade magazine, it enables one to vent one’s spleen or to promote our own Company and the services it provides.
This month is a reflection on our longevity in the monitoring business and the continued commitment to providing unrivalled levels of customer service to the Fire & Security industry.
After 26 years of trading, we have seen competition & recessions come and go, we’ve seen the constant cycle of acquisition and new growth. We’ve seen numerous ACPO policies and inspectorate bodies as well as huge changes to Standards and it’s fair to say we have been in the thick of it, representing our industry in all sectors and 26 years on, we continue to do so.
However, back in December 1983 when we opened our doors (figuratively speaking!), I would never have dreamt that in 2009 we would be the size we are with two centres, certificated by NSI for Fire, Intruder, CCTV and High Integrity monitoring and being instrumental in the founding the UK’s largest Fire & Security Trade Association namely the FSA.
At IFSEC this year we saw enormous interest for membership at the FSA stand and for the collaborative training schemes we have in place with the FPA and TAVCOM and the membership still continues to grow at an exponential rate. As do new customers joining SMS & NMS, we are enjoying significant growth currently and I cannot recall such an increase in sales activity, well not since the last national renumbering exercise in 1994.
We would be delighted to share our depth of experience in providing monitoring services for your Company as well, please give us a ring for competitive rates, you’ve nothing to loose, but you might if you don’t!
Bye for now,
Steve
