Connections

July 2009

Hello Again,

Finally at last it would seem that RedCare have looked to address the issue of their product range and have launched a family of signalling products on the Agile platform.

Agile as it was previously known has been renamed Secure 2; the prices are the same however the PSTN secondary path is now a freephone call.

A new Secure 3 dual path signalling product is now available again with the PSTN secondary path using a freephone number.

To compliment the RedCare GSM Grade 4 product which is still available (as is single path Classic) is the new Secure IP the secondary path being GPRS.

All the above products have the ability to be re-graded from Secure 2 to 3 or IP or even downgraded. For further details of all the polling parameters and power consumptions etc please visit www.redcare.bt.com/secure or contact customer services for prices at SMS or NMS.

I have already in previous months connections columns indicated that DualCom have launched the DigiPlus to assist installers combat any issues with the existing estate of digital communicators and BT21CN, again further details and pricing is available from customer services.

Additionally WebWayOne have launched a new tariff called Express which reduces the cost of hardware and Emizon more recently reduced their airtime costs for their tariffs across all grades.

So the network providers are working hard to provide competitive prices in the marketplace including price pledges on increases and in the event of any BT RedCare increases in the future that they will coincide with the anniversary of connection for the RedCare signalling installed.

With regard to the ongoing relationships and ARC contracts with BT RedCare, most of which come up for renewal next March, we still wait with baited breath to see if existing estates of Classic and GSM connections will be effected by those negotiations.  I suspect in light of the fierce competition between network suppliers there will be a meeting of minds and a mutual agreement moving forward next year.

Bye for now,

Steve
