Connections
December 2007
Hello Again,
Welcome to this December’s edition of connections and well, what an interesting year that was!
Mergers and acquisitions were rife and continue to be so as we move toward the changes in tax relief for the shareholders of businesses sold. Next year the tax payable increases from 10% to 18% so many who were thinking of getting out now have a tax incentive to do so.
During the Year we have seen the launch of the Fire & Security Association and its continued growth and development, now representing over 200 companies nationally and actively involved in all aspects of the electro technical industry.
We also saw a major shape up of the relationship between ARC’s and BT RedCare as new trading contracts were forced upon the industry. This has resulted in some ARC’s actively promoting alternative products and on the other hand there have also been some cracking deals to be had on RedCare connections and upgrades.
At about the same time we started to see a healthy growth in IP connections, initially for the convergence of CCTV and alarm transmissions and the cost savings that can be enjoyed. But more recently the proliferation of alarm signals over IP so as to provide a secure gateway for the remote service and diagnostics and automated remote maintenance as permitted under PD6662.
This year has seen both the WebWayOne Slipstream service and Emizon 21 being installed as signalling platforms in SMS & NMS as well as RedCare Agile. All of these products have had sales and technical seminars at our Waterlooville offices.
New business has also been good this year and we now support new sales and upgrades with 2 new sales people, Paul Cooper for Security and Rod Wilson for Fire and in the New Year we have major contracts coming on board for lone worker and tracking with a large client.
NMS after 4 successful years of trading is now relocating to brand new premises in Altrincham, Cheshire. The prestigious new centre is of the same quality as the flagship centre at SMS and we will be holding open days in the New Year when our new website goes online.
In the meanwhile all the staff at Southern & Northern Monitoring Services would like to wish all our customers, friends and colleagues a very Happy Xmas and a peaceful break with friends and family.
Bye for now,
Steve
